Around 1931 National dressed up its iconic Style 1 Tricone with a subtly engraved "wiggle border." It gained the nickname "Style 1.5" at that point. This instrument is a wonderful sounding example of that version. Being that the depression was working its way into full swing, Tricones of this era are pretty rare!

This relatively clean example is a wonderful sounding one. The body is in nice shape. It has some plating loss here and there and lacks the luster it had when new. Still, it presents well, and the shine comes through strongly. It is currently set up in early Hawaiian style high bass A tuning but could easily accommodate a wind variety of open string tunings with the correct strings.

Overall length: 38 3/4 in. (98.4 cm.)

Body Depth: 3 in. (7.6 cm.)
Scale length: 25 in. (635 mm.)

It has a few shallow dings and age appropriate abrasions from normal use. One larger player facing edge dent was removed from the back side lower bout. Its vintage correct nut and National Reso-phonic cones which sound clear and powerful. Some deeper lines are present on the headstock but do not appear to be through cracks and are rock solid. Repro Gotoh Vintage Deluxe 3-On-Plate Tuners function wonderfully and hold tune precisely. Frets 13, 14, and 18 seem to have been replaced.
