1950s C. F. Martin Style 1-C Concert Ukulele 1C Mahogany Uke
1950s C. F. Martin Style 1-C Concert Ukulele 1C Mahogany Uke
C. F. Martin Style 1-C Model Concert Ukulele (1950s), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original chipboard case
This is a great-playing and amazingly well preserved example of one of the most desired vintage ukuleles, an older Martin Concert uke! The concert-size ukulele is bigger than the soprano but smaller and more "uke-like" in feel and sound than the tenor. The larger body and longer neck give a deeper, richer tone. And the neck length has more room for advanced modern uke playing techniques.
Martin ukuleles can be hard to date, specifically. This Style 1-C dates to the 1950s, judging from its combination of features and the fact that it’s housed in its original case.
Overall length: 23 1/2 in. (59.7 cm.)
Lower Bout: 7 3/4 in. (19.7 cm.)
Body Depth: 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.)
Scale length: 15 in. (381 mm.)
Nut Width: 1 3/8 in. (35 mm.)
This uke is in excellent original condition, with only the lightest marks in the playing area and very modest signs of use overall. It also shows a few tiny binding hairlines on its waist. The uke plays and sounds excellent, complete in its amazingly well preserved original chipboard case with some vintage sheet music. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better example of a 50s Martin Concert ukulele anywhere!
