1936 Gibson EH-150 Model Tube Amplifier Lap Steel and Guitar Amp

Offered here is a wonderful 1936 Gibson EH-150, one of the earliest and most influential professional guitar amplifiers ever made. Built in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this rare second-version EH-150 features a rectangular cabinet in classic gold/brown tweed with vertical orange and black stripes, a black script Gibson logo, leather-covered corners, and a black metal grille over the round speaker opening.

This model introduced several groundbreaking features for its time, including separate mic and instrument volume controls, two instrument inputs, a mic input, an “echo speaker” output, a bass tone switch, and a deco-style control panel, all housed in a compact, portable format. The back panel is latch-secured and removable for easy access.

Used by legends like Charlie Christian, this amp defined the sound of a generation and still delivers warm, rich vintage tone. A true collector’s piece and a stellar performer

Height is 14 in. (35.6 cm.), 15 1/4 in. (38.7 cm.) width, and 7 1/2 in. (19 cm.) deep.

This amp is in great condition for its age. It is largely in original condition. It featured a set of vintage tubes. It is currently in need of mounting brackets for a NOS correct vintage handle, which is included (the amp will be repriced once this installation is complete). It was serviced in the last couple of years, functions as it should, and sounds wonderful when paired with a wide range of instruments.
